Fishing & Match Rules
At Westlands Angling, we welcome conscientious anglers. To ensure the safety of our fish, environment, and visitors, we ask everyone to follow these common sense rules, in order to allow everyone to enjoy their fishing experience.
Pleasure & Match Anglers
Summer: Fishing is permitted from 6:00am to 9:00pm.
Winter: Fishing is permitted from 7:00am to 4:00pm.
Please note: Fishing is not allowed before dawn or after dusk at any time on our day‑ticket lakes. Our team may carry out bank checks during permitted fishing hours.
- No children unaccompanied under the age of 14
- No keepnets to be used
- No fish to be removed from any pond
- Fishery feed pellets only – hook baits remain unaffected
- Barbless hooks only
- No meat baits, including pet food meat
- No artificial baits (such as plastic or rubber)
- Ground bait by pole cup or feeder only
- No fixed leads or feeders – must be inline & free running
- Dry landing nets before fishing
- No litter – if you brought it, take it home
- No alcohol on the banks
- No tin cans or glass jars on the bank
- Fishing only from designated pegs
- Unhooking mats must be used for all specimen fish
- Scales to fish when weighing specimen fish
- No fires or damage to banks, trees, or fencing Management reserves the right to refuse admission and accepts no responsibility for injury, damage, or loss to any person or property while visiting the lakes.


Match Rules
You may be checked
- Maximum 6 hours fishing per match
- Fishery keepnets must be used and returned (or your club will be charged)
- Fishery feed pellets only – hook baits remain unaffected
- Barbless hooks only
- No meat baits, including pet foods
- No artificial baits
- Ground bait by pole cup or feeder only
- No fixed leads or feeders – must be inline & free running
- Dry landing nets before fishing
- 55lb net limit
- No fish over 10lb to be placed in keepnets
- Keepnets not to be lifted unless at weigh in or tipping back
- Scales to fish when weighing in
- No litter – if you brought it, take it home
- No tin cans or glass jars on the bank
Management reserves the right to refuse admission and accepts no responsibility for injury, damage, or loss to any person or property while visiting the lakes.
