Fishing & Match Rules

At Westlands Angling, we welcome conscientious anglers. To ensure the safety of our fish, environment, and visitors, we ask everyone to follow these common sense rules, in order to allow everyone to enjoy their fishing experience.

Pleasure & Match Anglers

Summer: Fishing is permitted from 6:00am to 9:00pm.

Winter: Fishing is permitted from 7:00am to 4:00pm.

Please note: Fishing is not allowed before dawn or after dusk at any time on our day‑ticket lakes. Our team may carry out bank checks during permitted fishing hours.

Please Note: All open matches must be booked onto by calling the shop. We request that bookings are made at least, the day before or at the very latest, by 8.15am on the morning of the match via the on site tackle shop.

No children unaccompanied under the age of 14
No keepnets to be used
No fish to be removed from any pond
Fishery feed pellets only – hook baits remain unaffected
Barbless hooks only
No meat baits, including pet food meat
No artificial baits (such as plastic or rubber)
Ground bait by pole cup or feeder only
No fixed leads or feeders – must be inline & free running
Dry landing nets before fishing
No litter – if you brought it, take it home
No alcohol on the banks
No tin cans or glass jars on the bank
Fishing only from designated pegs
Unhooking mats must be used for all specimen fish
Scales to fish when weighing specimen fish
No fires or damage to banks, trees, or fencing Management reserves the right to refuse admission and accepts no responsibility for injury, damage, or loss to any person or property while visiting the lakes.

Match Rules

You may be checked

Maximum 6 hours fishing per match
You will need to provide your own keep nets and landing nets
All nets must be a minimum of 3 metres
All nets must be laid out on the bank by each Angler for a minimum of 30 minutes prior to match starting
There will be a 15 minute call for nets to go into the pond by the timekeeper on the day of the match
Fishery feed pellets only – hook baits remain unaffected
Barbless hooks only
No meat baits, including pet foods
No artificial baits
Ground bait by pole cup or feeder only
No fixed leads or feeders – must be inline & free running
Dry landing nets before fishing
55lb net limit
No fish over 10lb to be placed in keepnets
Keepnets not to be lifted unless at weigh in or tipping back
Scales to fish when weighing in
No litter – if you brought it, take it home
No tin cans or glass jars on the bank

Management reserves the right to refuse admission and accepts no responsibility for injury, damage, or loss to any person or property while visiting the lakes.
